Juror

Description

Artspace invites artists working in a variety of craft media to enter Fine Contemporary Craft, a biennial national juried exhibition. Entries will be juried for cash prizes (Best of Show: $1000). 

Eligible media include functional or sculptural works in the following: basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture (any media), glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, handmade paper, and wood. Fine art media such as painting, photography, and lithography are NOT ELIGIBLE unless incorporated into an otherwise eligible media. Decorated furniture, candles, pressed flowers, handmade reproductions, and objects made from commercial kits or commercially available plans are also NOT ELIGIBLE. 

A full color brochure and juror essay will be produced for the exhibition. 

While Artspace’s gallery space is fully accessible, we strive to make the submission process accessible for artists as well. We encourage anyone to submit for our open calls-for-art . The Summer Artist Residency at Artspace provides an artist with a month-long studio opportunity and $2,000 stipend (paid at the end of the residency) to work on a project of his/her choice and to interact with the public and the artist community. It is also an opportunity for an artist to exhibit the work s/he creates immediately following the residency. During the residency period, the artist teaches two classes or workshops in conjunction with the Artspace Summer Arts Program (ASAP), and presents a general lecture or demonstration about his/her own work or a related topic.

  • Nonrefundable fee of $25

Expected volunteer duties include: 

• Being a reliable aid to the instructor whose class you are assigned 

• Assisting in signing in and out the students attending classes 

• Helping organize and move supplies 

• Monitoring students before, during, and after classes 


ASAP offers two sessions a day.

The morning session begins at 9am and ends at 12pm. 

The afternoon session begins at 1pm and ends at 4pm. 

There is a one hour lunch period that begins at 12pm and ends at 1pm.
